Overview

Take an exceptional private tour into the demilitarized zone — the buffer between South and North Korea that has remained largely untouched since the 1953 armistice. You will visit the 3rd Infiltration Tunnel, originally dug by North Korea for a surprise attack, and view North Korea directly from the Dora Observatory. Your guide will walk you through the history of the Korean War and the long story of a divided peninsula.

Description

Access to the DMZ is by an army-managed shuttle bus. After ID checks, the bus drives through the South DMZ line, past military camps, peaceful farming towns, and warning signs for mines and no-fly zones. We then descend into the 3rd Infiltration Tunnel, which North Korea dug at a rate that could move 30,000 soldiers

How long is the DMZ tour from Seoul?

The tour takes approximately 6 to 7 hours including round-trip transportation from your hotel in Seoul. The drive to the DMZ is about 1 hour each way.

How much does the DMZ tour cost?

Prices start from $79 per person. The tour includes private vehicle, English-speaking guide, hotel pickup and drop-off, DMZ admission fees, and parking and toll fees.

Do I need my passport for the DMZ tour?

Yes. You MUST bring your passport on the day of the tour. A foreigner registration card is not acceptable. The DMZ is a restricted military zone and passport verification is required.

Is the DMZ open on Mondays?

No. The DMZ is closed on Mondays and Korean national holidays. We recommend booking on Tuesday through Sunday.

What is the difference between the DMZ and JSA (Panmunjom)?

The DMZ tour visits the 3rd Tunnel, Dora Observatory, and Reunification Village. The JSA (Joint Security Area) at Panmunjom is a separate site where you can stand on the North Korea border. JSA tours require additional military clearance and can be added to your DMZ tour.
